The beloved Star Trek franchise returns as part of the Paramount Plus schedule for June 12-18
Starting Thursday, June 15, Paramount Plus subscribers can watch the sophomore season of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. New episodes will follow every Thursday until the season 2 finale on August 17, 2023. Created by Academy Award-winner Akiva Goldsman, Alex Kurtzman, and Jenny Lumet, the Star Trek: Discovery spin-off follows the latest adventures of Captain Pike (Anson Mount) and the USS Enterprise crew. Strange New Worlds features the return of many beloved Star Trek characters, including Spock, here portrayed by Ethan Peck. It stars Jess Bush, Christina Chong, Celia Rose Gooding, Melissa Navia, Babs Olusanmokun, Bruce Horak, and Rebecca Romijn.
Interestingly, season 2 will feature a major crossover event between Strange New Worlds and Star Trek: Lower Decks, as announced during the Star Trek panel at last year’s San Diego Comic-Con. While Lower Decks is an animated series, the upcoming crossover will see Tawny Newsome and Jack Quaid portraying the live-action version of their characters, Ensign Beckett Mariner and Ensign Brad Boimler, respectively.
On the same day, the streamer will also add the Blumhouse Television-produced There’s Something Wrong With The Children horror movie. The Roxanne Benjamin-directed movie stars Alisha Wainwright, Zach Gilford, Amanda Crew, Carlos Santos, and more. T.J. Cimfel and Dave White penned the script.
“When Margaret and Ben take a weekend trip with longtime friends Ellie and Thomas and their two young children, Ben begins to suspect something supernatural is occurring when the kids behave strangely after disappearing into the woods overnight,” reads the movie’s synopsis.
