Guillermo del Toro’s much-anticipated take on the timeless Pinocchio tale is here.
On Friday, December 9, Netflix will release Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio. The upcoming movie is a stop-motion animated musical that will follow the adventures of a wooden boy in his pursuit of a place in the world. It will feature a star-studded voice ensemble led by newcomer Gregory Mann as the titular wooden boy, Ewan McGregor as Jiminy Cricket, and David Bradley as Geppetto.
“Set during the rise of Fascism in Mussolini’s Italy, the film is a story of love and disobedience as Pinocchio struggles to live up to his father’s expectations,” reads the logline.
Additional cast includes Academy Award winners Tilda Swinton (Isle of Dogs), Christoph Waltz (Epic), and Cate Blanchett (How to Train Your Dragon films), along with Finn Wolfhard (Stranger Things), John Turturro (The Batman), Ron Perlman (Hellboy), Tim Blake Nelson (Watchmen), and Burn Gorman (Enola Holmes).
