Saadiq, who is a multi-instrumentalist songwriter and producer, will lead the songwriting and musical underscore for the series. A featurette on the news was released alongside the announcement, with Saadiq discussing how he aims to reflect the many cultures and communities of New York City, including hip-hop, pop, R&B, jazz, Jamaican, funk, Latin, and more.

Check out the new featurette for Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur below:

“The highly-anticipated series follows the adventures of 13-year-old super-genius Lunella Lafayette and her 10-ton T-Rex, Devil Dinosaur,” reads the official synopsis for the animated series. “After Lunella accidentally brings Devil Dinosaur into present-day New York City via a time vortex, the duo works together to protect the city’s Lower East Side from danger.”

Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur is produced by Laurence Fishburne’s Cinema Gypsy Productions, which also explains the actor introducing the series in the trailer. Fishburne will also voice The Beyonder in the show, which is a curious character to have in the series. For those unaware, The Beyonder helps kickstart the original Secret Wars comic arc. It’s unclear how he fits into the upcoming animated series, but it does set the stage for an interesting story.
