Just a couple of days after wrapping Karen Gillan’s role in the film, the entirety of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 has wrapped, with James Gunn taking to social media to celebrate.

Gunn announced that the film had wrapped production in a Twitter post that featured a photograph of Gunn alongside a majority of the larger Guardians cast, including his brother Sean Gunn (who plays Kraglin Obfonteri but also does motion-capture performance for Rocket Raccoon), Pom Klementieff, Chris Pratt, Karen Gillan, and Dave Bautista.

In his message, Gunn thanked the cast and crew behind the film, and said he was a “lucky human to have them on the journey with me for nearly a decade.” At the moment, it’s unknown exactly what the future holds for the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise, as Gunn has spoken openly in the past about this film possibly being the last time the group of Guardians fans have come to know would be heavily featured.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is once again written and directed by Gunn. It features the return of Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldaña, Dave Bautista, Sean Gunn, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Bradley Cooper, and Vin Diesel as they reprise their respective roles as Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Kraglin, Nebula, Mantis, Rocket, and Groot. Joining them are MCU newcomers Will Poulter and Chukwudi Iwuji, with Poulter confirmed to be playing the role of Adam Warlock. Before the space-traveling team makes their return to the big screen, their Disney+ holiday special is expected to be released later this year.

The titular team was last seen in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame where they were joined by Chris Hemsworth’s Thor during the final moments of the film. Because of this, some of the Guardians of the Galaxy stars, including Pratt, Bautista, and Gillan, are set to appear in Thor: Love and Thunder.
