Will Forte, Lana Condor, Looney Tunes, Coyote vs Acme

The latest live-action/animated Looney Tunes movie is set to begin shooting later this month and Deadline has reported that Will Forte and Lana Condor have joined the cast.

Dave Green, director of Earth to Echo and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows, will helm Coyote vs. Acme with Samy Burch writing the most recent draft of the script based upon Ian Frazier’s Coyote v. Acme article for the New Yorker. Coyote vs. Acme will follow “the infamous Looney Tunes prairie woof whose objective is obliterating his nemesis Road Runner. Acme is the fictional company that provides Coyote with his many weapons, all of which invariably fail, leaving him squashed flat or burnt to a crisp.” The movie will tell the story of a down-on-his-luck attorney who takes on Wile E. as a client in his suit against Acme over its defective products, only to discover that his boss at his former law firm is representing Acme, but the growing friendship between Wile E. and his lawyer only fuels their desire to win the case. It’s not known who Lana Condor will be playing in the Looney Tunes movie, but Will Forte will be playing Coyote’s lawyer. It was also announced last month that John Cena would be playing the intimidating former boss of Forte’s character. Coyote vs. Acme is being produced by Chris DeFaria and James Gunn and is set to hit theaters on July 21, 2023.

Will Forte was recently seen reprising his role of MacGruber for the recent Peacock series and also returned to host Saturday Night Live in January, which was actually his first time hosting the series since he left over a decade ago. He also appeared in The Afterparty for Apple TV, which was recently renewed for a second season. As for Lana Condor, she’s best known for starring in Netflix’s To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before as well as the sequels, To All The Boys: P.S. I Still Love You and To All The Boys: Always and Forever. She will next be seen in Moonshot, a sci-fi rom-com taking place in a future where Mars is terraformed and colonized by the best humanity has to offer and follows two college students who join forces and sneak onboard a space shuttle to the red planet in order to be united with their significant others. The film will debut on HBO Max on March 31st.
