Prequel clips from A24’s Talk to Me were posted online, meant to tease and build up anticipation for the film. However, they’ve been removed for “violence and bullying” by social media platforms.

In August 2023, news broke that Danny and Michael Philippou had filmed a Talk to Me prequel based on the events of the hit horror movie’s opening moments. Speaking with Empire Magazine, per SlashFilm, the brothers explained the prequel is actually a series of clips centered around the character of Duckett (played by Sunny Johnson) rather than an entire feature film.

A number of these prequel clips were posted online; however, given the fact that they were filmed to look like they were shot on a phone and shared on an unofficial account, the videos were taken down.

“They just kept getting removed for violence and bullying,” Michael Philippou said.

A Talk to Me sequel is officially in the works

While the prequel clips are no longer available for fans to see, Talk to Me releases on 4k, Blu-ray, and DVD on October 3, 2023, meaning they could be included as bonus features.

Talk to Me 2 is also officially in the works at A24 and could potentially further explore the original film’s pulse-pounding cold open. Written by Danny Philippou and Bill Hinzman, the sequel will once again be directed by Danny and Michael Philippou.

Talk to Me released theatrically in the United States on July 28, 2023. Based on a concept by Daley Pearson, the movie received positive reviews from critics and grossed approximately $55 million at the worldwide box office off a budget of $4.5 million. Talk to Me centers around a group of reckless teenagers who find themselves being haunted by terrifying forces beyond their comprehension after discovering an unusual way to conjure the dead. Sophie Wilde, Alexandra Jensen, Joe Bird, Miranda Otto, Otis Dhanji, and Zoe Terakes star in the film.

A release date for Talk to Me 2 has not yet been set.
