Obi-Wan Kenobi, theme, John Williams

Although John Williams had said that he was likely done scoring Star Wars movies after Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, the iconic composer just couldn’t stay away from the franchise. It was announced earlier this year that John Williams had composed the theme for the Obi-Wan Kenobi series, and as a special treat for fans, he conducted an orchestra playing that very theme at Star Wars Celebration.

Our own Alex Maidy is on the scene at Star Wars Celebration and was able to take a video of John Williams conducting the Obi-Wan Kenobi theme. Jealous!

Although John Williams returned to compose the theme for Obi-Wan Kenobi, Natalie Holt (Loki) will be serving as the main composer of the new series. After scoring the original Star Wars movie, John Williams returned for The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi, The Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones, Revenge of the Sith, The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi, and The Rise of Skywalker. He also wrote the theme for Solo: A Star Wars Story as well as for the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge theme park.

The Obi-Wan Kenobi series begins 10 years after the dramatic events of Revenge of the Sith where Obi-Wan Kenobi faced his greatest defeat—the downfall and corruption of his best friend and Jedi apprentice, Anakin Skywalker, who turned to the dark side as the evil Sith Lord Darth Vader. The first two episodes of the series will debut on Disney+ on May 27th.
