Toho has finally unveiled the official title and first teaser for its next Godzilla movie. Set to premiere in Japan on November 3, the live-action monster movie is now dubbed Godzilla Minus One. Following its Japanese release, it will arrive in U.S. theaters on December 1.

The first Godzilla Minus One teaser provides a glimpse of a thrilling and terrifying sequence. It spotlights the titular kaiju on a rampage during post-war Japan.

Upcoming Godzilla Projects

Godzilla Minus One is written and directed by Takashi Yamazaki, who previously worked on the visual effects for Shin Godzilla. It is a period action drama set during “an already devastated post-war Japan.” Further details about its plot and cast are still being kept under wraps.

Additionally, Legendary’s upcoming sequel to the Godzilla vs. Kong film film is scheduled to arrive in theaters on March 15, 2024. The project titled Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire is once again directed by Adam Wingard. It is being led by Dan Stevens, Rebecca Hall, Brian Tyree Henry, Kaylee Hottle, and more. 

Meanwhile, Apple TV+ and Legendary is also developing a live-action series adaptation of Godzilla and the Titans, which will also be set within the world of Legendary’s MonsterVerse. The first two episodes will be directed by WandaVision director Matt Shakman, who will also serve as an executive producer. It will star Wyatt Russell, Kurt Russell, Kiersey Clemons, and more.
