Today brings a fresh look at Baz Luhrmann‘s Elvis biopic starring Austin Butler as the King of Rock and Roll. In the new Elvis trailer, we witness the King’s power over an impressionable crowd and the fear behind those looking to supersede his influence. While fans were obsessed with Presley’s talent, gyrating hips, and gorgeous mug, authority figures were terrified that one man could hold a nation in his hand from a brightly-lit stage.
Luhrmann is known for making hyper-visual films like Moulin Rouge!, Romeo + Juliet, and The Great Gatsby. I do not doubt that he’ll be applying his flair for the dramatic to Elvis, and there are plenty of stars attached to the film to help tell the icon’s legendary story.
