The Mandalorian is one of the most popular projects to ever take place in the Star Wars universe, and it’s seemingly only a matter of time before we see the characters on the big screen, according to its executive producer.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, executive producer Rick Famuyiwa was asked whether or not he thinks fans would ever see characters like Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and Grogu in a Star Wars film. While Famuyiwa wouldn’t say for certain, he did note he would not be surprised at all.

“I don’t know what the big plan of everything is, and obviously, there’s so much storytelling happening now in Star Wars,” said Famuyiwa. “There are series, and a lot has happened in the films. So what that all means in terms of how we create things and for what medium has all started to blur. So I wouldn’t be surprised, but I certainly don’t have any inside knowledge about anything that’s happening in that regard. But there’s a large storytelling community within Star Wars that is very active on the series side and continues to be active when it comes to what may be happening with the films moving forward.”

“The journeys of the Mandalorian through the Star Wars galaxy continue. Once a lone bounty hunter, Din Djarin has reunited with Grogu,” says the synopsis. “Meanwhile, the New Republic struggles to lead the galaxy away from its dark history. The Mandalorian will cross paths with old allies and make new enemies as he and Grogu continue their journey together.”

Season 3’s directorial lineup includes returning filmmakers Rick Famuyiwa, Carl Weathers, and Bryce Dallas Howard, along with Star Wars newcomers Lee Isaac Chung (Minari), Peter Ramsey (Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse), and Black Panther cinematographer Rachel Morrison.

The Mandalorian hails from executive producers Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni, Kathleen Kennedy, Colin Wilson, Karen Gilchrist, and Carrie Beck. Favreau is also set as the showrunner and one of its directors.

The Mandalorian Season 3 is now available to stream on Disney+.
