Apple has announced that Skydance Productions will be making an Apple Original Film starring Anya-Taylor Joy and Miles Teller titled The Gorge. Anya-Taylor Joy can currently be seen in David O. Russell’s Amsterdam, and Miles Teller co-starred in this summer’s huge blockbuster, Top Gun: Maverick. The two are set to star in The Gorge with Scott Derrickson in the director’s chair. Derrickson is known for Doctor Strange and, most recently, The Black Phone.

The film is based on a spec script by Zach Dean. Teller will also be a producer on the project in addition to starring in the film. The Gorge is being described as a high-action, genre-bending love story. No specific plot details have been released as of yet. David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Don Granger of Skydance Productions will be producing alongside Crooked Highway’s Scott Derrickson, C. Robert Cargill, Sherryl Clark, as well as Zach Dean, Adam Kohlbrenner and Greg Goodman.

Apple and Skydance struck a first-look deal which this film is a product of. And it will be joined by the film The Greatest Beer Run Ever in Apple TV+’s effort to expand its slate of award-winning films. Other future film announcements include “a high-concept romantic action-adventure film” starring Chris Evans and Ana de Armas called Ghosted, which is to be directed by Dexter Fletcher, and a new action comedy starring Mark Wahlberg that’s recently been announced called The Family Plan.

In an official press release, Apple states, “Momentum around the Apple Original Films slate continues to grow since the debut of Apple TV+ just under three years ago. In addition to Coda landing three historic Academy Awards, including this year’s top prize for Best Picture, Apple Original Films will also be premiering Emancipation, directed and executive produced by Antoine Fuqua and starring and produced by Will Smith; and Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio’s highly anticipated upcoming film, Killers of the Flower Moon.
