The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is getting a brand-new tabletop game, courtesy of Funko Games.

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre Slaughterhouse Game is a new tabletop game releasing in Sept. 2023. Currently available for pre-order on Amazon, the strategy game is designed for two-to-five players ages 13 and older.

“One person plays as the deranged Sawyer family, dragging victims to their farmhouse and harvesting their meat for a grizzly barbecue,” Funko Games’ description of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre Slaughterhouse Game reads. “The other players are the unwitting trespassers, doing everything they can to escape a hideous fate. But in this game, there are no winners—there are only survivors. Will you make it out alive, or end up on the menu?”

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre Approaches a Major Anniversary

The original Texas Chainsaw Massacre was directed by Tobe Hooper, and released in Oct. 1974. While it cost less than $140,000 to make and had difficulty finding a distributor, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre went on to be one of the most influential slasher films of all time. It has received multiple sequels, prequels, remakes, and tie-ins.

Hooper returned to the franchise in 1986 with Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2, which was controversial for its lighter, more darkly comedic tones. The sequel’s success led to 1990’s Leatherface: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre III and 1995’s Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation before director Marcus Nispel then attempted to remake it in 2003.

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre Slaughterhouse Game releases on Sept. 1, 2023.
