Sydney Sweeney, Black Cat, Sony pictures, Spider-Man, Euphoria, fans, madame web, casting

Yesterday the news broke that Euphoria’s Sydney Sweeney would be co-starring with Dakota Johnson in Sony’s Madame Web movie but it was not disclosed who she would be playing. Since that appears to be a mystery at the moment, it has left Spider-Man fans to speculate and they seem to think the actress will be playing Black Cat.

Sydney Sweeney really broke out recently with a more substantial role in the second season of Euphoria as well as a role on the HBO limited series, White Lotus. As her exposure has increased, the actress has become a fan-favorite to play the Spider-Man love-interest/anti-hero Felicia Hardy a.k.a. Black Cat. With Sweeney now being an official part of a Marvel franchise, the fan speculation has turned into full-on hope that she will be portraying the character. Black Cat became a trending topic on Twitter after the news broke with over 8,000 tweets. You can check out some of the tweets below!

Sony Pictures previously used Felicia Hardy in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 when Felicity Jones took on the role. We did not get to see her alter-ego in that film so Black Cat has never made a live-action appearance in the Spider-Man universe. The studio has been interested in the character for a while now. Sony began working on a Black Cat and Silver Sable team-up movie in 2017, but the project was ultimately scrapped. There were also talks of a solo Black Cat movie but there has been no real movement on that project as well.

Do YOU think Sydney Sweeney will be playing Black Cat? Do YOU think she SHOULD play Black Cat?
