James Gunn has take to Twitter to disprove a rumor about a Ron Perlman Creature Commandos role.

A Twitter user recently asked Gunn, who is Co-CEO of DC Studios, if fans will soon find out about who Hellboy star Ron Perlman will play in Creature Commandos. Gunn responded, saying that he loves Perlman as an actor, but that he isn’t in the upcoming series and that a Ron Perlman Creature Commandos role was never discussed. He then reiterated that fans shouldn’t believe rumors — particularly anything that doesn’t come from himself or DC.

Creature Commandos is the first project of James Gunn and Peter Safran’s new DC Universe. The animated series will star Viola Davis, David Harbour, Sean Gunn, Frank Grillo, Indira Varma, Alan Tudyk, Maria Bakalova, Zoë Chao, Steve Agee, and more. The series, which is canon to the wider DCU, will debut in 2024.

The DC Universe’s first phase, called Chapter One: Gods and Monsters, will feature a multitude of different movies and television shows. A few of the announced projects include Superman: Legacy, a Batman and Robin-focused movie called The Brave and the Bold, a Supergirl movie titled Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, a Swamp Thing film, and multiple TV shows.
