The RoboCop franchise docu-series RoboDoc: The Creation of RoboCop is getting a Blu-ray release in October

The fan-funded, four-part docuseries RoboDoc: The Creation of RoboCop was acquired by Cinedigm last year, and the company is currently releasing the series through their Screambox streaming service, with episodes being released on a weekly basis starting today – but if you want to own the documentary on physical media, you’ll be glad to hear that RoboDoc is also set to receive a Blu-ray release in October! On October 17th, to be exact.

Our friends at Bloody Disgusting gave us the heads-up that a collector’s edition Blu-ray release of RoboDoc is available for pre-order through Amazon, and there’s also a steelbook that’s exclusive to Walmart. (It can be pre-ordered through the Walmart website.)

Coming to us from Dead Mouse Productions Ltd and Cult Screenings UK Ltd, RoboDoc: The Creation of RoboCop is a fully independent retrospective into the making of RoboCop and its cultural impact over the last 30 years. Supported by dozens of the original cast and crew, RoboDoc is made by fans of the movie for fans of the movie.

Directed by Chris Griffiths and Eastwood Allen, RoboDoc also goes beyond the first RoboCop to take a look at the making of RoboCop 2 and RoboCop 3. Deadline previously reported that the docuseries features “new interviews with cast and crew, including stars Dr Peter Weller, Diane Robin, Ronny Cox, Nancy Allen, Ray Wise, and director Paul Verhoeven.”

Chris Griffiths described the project as a labor of love, while Eastwood Allen had this to say about the docuseries: “We’ve crafted something together to incorporate visuals and sound in an effort to immerse viewers into the world of 80s filmmaking and offer something completely unique to the ‘making of’ format.

Gary Smart produced RoboDoc: The Creation of RoboCop with Michael Perez and Hank Starrs. John Cashin, Gary Collins, Ben KB Ng, Fuad Omar, Aleksandar Smiljanic, Sean Tiedeman, and Laurence Gornall serve as executive producers.

Will you be picking up a copy of RoboDoc: The Creation of RoboCop on Blu-ray? Let us know by leaving a comment below.

I’ve been a fan of RoboCop since I was a little kid, but a documentary on the films still isn’t a blind buy for me. I need to see some of RoboDoc before I decide whether or not I want to own it.
