Adult Swim has confirmed that production on Genndy Tartakovsky‘s adult-animated action thriller Primal Season 3 has officially begun. The renewal comes after the critically-acclaimed series concluded its 10-episode second season last September. It’s currently unclear when Season 3 will make its debut.

“It’s happening! ‘Primal’ has become a contagious disease that I don’t ever want to cure,” Tartakovsky said in a statement. “Every episode flows out like an unstoppable force beyond my control. Prepare yourselves, ‘Primal’ fans, for Season 3 is coming!”

What is Primal about?

Primal is created and executive produced by Genndy Tartakovsky (Dexter’s Laboratory, Samurai Jack). It features the voices of Aaron LaPlante as Spear, Laëtitia Eïdo as Mira, Jacob Dudman as Charles, and Jeremy Crutchley as Darlington. The creative team includes art director Scott Wills, and sound effects designer Joel Valentine, along with composers Tyler Bates and Joanne Higginbottom.

“It follows the tale of Spear, a caveman at the dawn of evolution, as he forms an unlikely friendship with Fang, a nearly extinct dinosaur,” reads the logline. “Filled with suspense, heartbreak, excitement, love and fear, all with almost no dialogue, the series is a painting come to life, relying solely on music and graphic imagery to tell the story of two unlikely allies as they navigate through a treacherous world. After bonding over unfortunate tragedies, they seem to become each other’s only hope of survival.”
