A full Free Movie of the Day is posted on the JoBlo Horror Movies YouTube channel every other day during the week – but on Fridays things get even freakier and a little more fun. Get your weekend started the right way by indulging in Friday Fright Nights! Every Friday, we’ll be taking a look at another genre movie you can watch in its entirety, free of charge, either on the YouTube channel linked above or in the video embed here.

The Friday Fright Night feature we have for you this week is director Marvin Choi’s post-apocalyptic film A Knight’s Tour, a movie that shows you can make a movie about the end of the world without showing devastated landscapes or crumbling buildings. Here, Choi stays outside of the dangerous areas of civilization, with all of the scenes taking place inside a remote cabin or in the picturesque countryside that surrounds that cabin. It also shows off the fact that you don’t need many cast members to tell a story. You’ll meet the characters J.D. and Henry, played by Darnel Powell and Joseph Price, as the film begins… and once you meet them, don’t expect to meet anybody else. Powell and Price are the only two cast members. J.D. and Henry are the only two characters.

Choi has explained, “The movie is implicitly driven by the interaction between two characters, one who is so isolated that he resolves his emotional conflicts with hallucinatory episodes and another who has lived his life built upon so many lies and slights of hand that he is no longer sure what his true motivations are anymore.

A Knight’s Tour directly plays toward the audience who enjoys dialogue-heavy films, because the movie is built entirely on the conversations J.D. and Henry have with each other. It’s like a post-apocalyptic My Dinner with Andre… and you’ll just have to stick around and keep watching their interactions to see if people can get along after the end of the world, or if they’re always doomed to turn violent against each other, as happens in so many apocalyptic and post-apocalyptic stories.

Friday Fright Nights A Knight's Tour

A Knight’s Tour marks the feature debut of writer/director Marvin Choi, who previously made several short films. The movie has the following synopsis: In a post-apocalyptic world, a young man, J.D., and a detached hermit, Henry, attempt to form a friendship in the midst of swirling suspicions about J.D.’s checkered past and the threat of unseen invaders from the outside world.

Five years have gone by since A Knight’s Tour was first released, and we’re still waiting to see if Choi is going to make another feature.

So take a look at A Knight’s Tour – it’s free! – and let us know what you thought of it by leaving a comment below or on the YouTube page. Would you like to see another movie from Marvin Choi? And do you think Powell and Price did a good job of carrying the entire movie on their shoulders?
