At the premiere of DC League of Super-Pets, Keanu Reeves told Extra that he’s long dreamt of playing the Caped Crusader in a live-action Batman project.

While speaking to Extra’s Rachel Lindsay, Reeves was asked about whether he’d be open to playing a live-action Batman, rather than doing the voice for Batman as he does in DC League of Super-Pets. Reeves notes that Robert Pattinson, who starred as Bruce Wayne in The Batman, is doing an “awesome” job, and that he’ll perhaps get his shot when DC needs an older Batman.

“It’s always been a … it’s been a dream,” Reeves said. “Pattinson’s got Batman right now, and he’s doing awesome. Maybe down the road. Maybe when they need an older Batman.”

Based on the characters created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, DC League of Super-Pets will be led by Black Adam star Dwayne Johnson as Krypto the Superdog, and Kevin Hart (The Secret Life of Pets) as Ace the Bathound, the crime-fighting canine partner to Batman and Robin.

“In the film, Krypto the Super-Dog and Superman are inseparable best friends, sharing the same superpowers and fighting crime in Metropolis side by side,” reads the synopsis. “When Superman and the rest of the Justice League are kidnapped, Krypto must convince a rag-tag shelter pack—Ace the hound, PB the potbellied pig, Merton the turtle, and Chip the squirrel—to master their own newfound powers and help him rescue the Super Heroes.”
