After joining Saturday Night Live when he was just twenty years old, Pete Davidson is ready to leave Studio 8H behind. Variety has reported that Davidson is expected to leave Saturday Night Live after this weekend’s season 47 finale.
Pete Davidson joined Saturday Night Live in 2014 as a featured player and was one of the youngest cast members in the show’s history. He frequently appeared in segments on Weekend Update, mostly as himself, but went on to become more involved in sketches over the years. His most famous character has been Chad, the easily-distracted, chill, apathetic man who remains oblivious no matter what situation he’s presented with, whether it’s being stalked by a serial killer or travelling to Narnia. Saturday Night Live producers weren’t available to comment, but if Pete Davidson really is leaving the show, we’ll find out tomorrow night.
Pete Davidson’s popularity exploded during his time on Saturday Night Live. He appeared in movies such as Big Time Adolescence, The King of Staten Island, and The Suicide Squad. He’s got plenty of projects on his slate, including Wizards!, a stoner comedy from David Michôd; The Home, a horror thriller from The Purge creator James DeMonaco; and Good Mourning, another stoner comedy starring Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly. He’s also set to star, co-write, and executive produce Bupkis for Peacock. The series will present “a raw, unflinching, fictionalized version of Pete Davidson’s real life. It will include a mixture of grounded storytelling with absurd elements depicting an unfiltered view through Pete’s eyes.” Pete Davidson will next be seen in Bodies Bodies Bodies, a black comedy slasher film that follows a group of rich 20-somethings who plan a hurricane party at a remote family mansion but find themselves in very real danger when a party game turns deadly.” The film debuted at the South by Southwest Film Festival earlier this year and will be released in theaters on August 5, 2022.
