What would you do if you discovered a portal to the unknown? Would you walk through it? That’s what Sissy Spacek and J.K. Simmons will have to ask themselves in the new Night Sky trailer.

Spanning space and time, Night Sky follows Irene (Sissy Spacek) and Franklin York (J.K. Simmons), a couple who, years ago, discovered a chamber buried in their backyard, which inexplicably leads to a strange, deserted planet. They’ve carefully guarded their secret ever since, but when an enigmatic young man enters their lives, the Yorks’ quiet existence is quickly upended, and the mysterious chamber they thought they knew so well turns out to be much more than they could ever have imagined.

Presented by Amazon Studios and Legendary Television, Night Sky stars Academy Award winner Sissy Spacek (CarrieThe Help), J.K. Simmons (WhiplashJuno), Chai Hansen (The 100), Kiah McKirnan (Mare of Easttown), Julieta Zylberberg (Impuros), Rocio Rocío Hernández (La caída), and Adam Bartley (This Is Us).

Night Sky was created and co-executive produced by Holden Miller, with Daniel C. Connolly serving as showrunner and executive producer. Mosaic’s Jimmy Miller and Sam Hansen serve as executive producers, along with Emmy- and BAFTA Award-winner Philip Martin (The Crown).

Prime Video’s Night Sky trailer paints a startling picture of what happens when a secret is exposed, leading to untold complications. People fear what they don’t understand, and a chamber that seemingly leads to another planet will cause trouble. I’ll ask again: What would you do if you discovered a portal to another world? Would you tell anyone? Would you venture over to the other side? Let us know in the comments section below.

Night Sky premieres on Prime Video Friday, May 20.
