The Crown Netflix cast

Season five of Netflix’s The Crown hasn’t even premiered yet and already season six has begun casting. It was announced that two key figures in the royal family: Prince William, Duke of Cambridge and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge. You know, Will and Kate!

William will actually be played by two individuals: Rufus Kampa and Ed McVey, who are 16 and 21, respectively, perhaps giving an idea of the time frame of season six. Kate Middleton will be played by Meg Bellamy. Netflix’s The Crown is the only listed screen credit for any of the three actors, making this a huge debut for the trio. They have all done stage work.

Prince William will also be featured in season five of Netflix’s The Crown, which is set soon after the events of season four, the storyline of which ended in 1990. Reportedly, it will conclude in the mid-1990s, so it is highly likely Princess Diana’s 1997 death will be a major point late in the season. Prince William will be portrayed by Senan West, son of Dominic West, who plays, appropriately enough, Prince Charles, Williams’ father. Elizabeth Decki will portray Princess Diana after taking over the role from Emma Corrin.

William and Kate married in 2011, in case you were living under a boulder or actively avoided supermarket checkout lanes.

Season four of The Crown did quite well at the Primetime Emmy Awards last year. It won seven awards, including four for acting and Outstanding Drama Series, which eluded the show for the first three seasons. The Crown is not nominated this year, as there was no eligible season.

Season five of Netflix’s The Crown will be released in November of this year.

Are you looking forward to season five of Netflix’s The Crown? Does this casting news get you excited for the forthcoming season six storylines?
