In a recent self-interview with Interview Magazine, Golden Globe and Emmy winner Donald Glover has confirmed that PEN15 star Maya Erskine has been tapped for a lead role in Prime Video’s upcoming TV adaptation of Mr. and Mrs. Smith. Her casting comes after six months since Phoebe Waller-Bridge exited the project over creative differences with Glover.

“Yeah. She’s dope. It’s exciting. I really love the show. I’m writing the finale now,” Glover said about Erskine.

Erskine is best known for starring in Hulu’s hit comedy PEN15, which she also co-created and co-executive produced with co-star Anna Konkle. For their work on the first season, the duo received an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series. Erskine will also next be seen in Disney+’s upcoming Star Wars series Obi-Wan Kenobi.
