After the success of House of the Dragon, several Game of Thrones spin-offs are in the works at HBO. One of those spin-off series marks the return of Kit Harington as Jon Snow from Game of Thrones, which recently received an important update.

What is the Update on the Jon Snow Game of Thrones Series?

While speaking with Deadline, Francesca Orsi, the HBO Head of Drama, explained how the Jon Snow spin-off is still in the “very early stages” of development. However, the spin-off has not received a series order just yet.

“We’re just working deeply with the writers to get it in shape for potential greenlight, but at this point, no, no determination on whether it can go all the way,” Orsi said.

News of a Jon Snow spin-off first broke in June 2022, with Harington returning to star and executive produce. The series will follow Snow’s adventures north of the Wall with the Wildlings, who he joined in the finale of Game of Thrones.

George R.R. Martin, the author behind A Song of Ice and Fire, confirmed that Harington came up with the idea for a spin-off and brought it to Martin and HBO. According to Martin, Harington brought in his team of writers for the series, but, as Orsi reiterated, the spin-off is still in development.

Harington starred as Snow for all eight seasons of Game of Thrones from 2011-2019. For his performance, Harington was nominated for two Emmys and one Golden Globe. For the series itself, Game of Thrones received the most Emmy awards for a drama series with 59 awards, including four wins for Outstanding Drama Series.
