John Wick 4, Keanu Reeves

Those who attended CinemaCon (including our own Chris Bumbray) caught the first glimpse at John Wick 4. The much-anticipated sequel will continue the saga of John Wick, and although there’s a fifth film on the way, director Chad Stahelski recently teased to Collider that John Wick 4 will offer a bit of a conclusion for fans.

I think Chapter 4 is a good continuation of all three previous films, and it’s got a bit of a conclusion to it, which is great. We introduce a ton of new characters that have a lot to say about John Wick from his past and from, obviously, present. I think it’s brotherhood, it’s hope. It’s what the life would really be like as a bit of an existential crisis with John, and I think that’s the fun part of the movie.

Chad Stahelski added that “there’s a good conclusion to an emotional thread that we’ve already had.” The director also teased that they brought in stunt teams from around the world for John Wick 4 and that each added “a little bit of flavor of motion” that “helps change the set pieces.” We saw a little of that action in the John Wick 4 trailer at CinemaCon. It opened with John Wick having to retrain himself after he nearly died in the last film. He takes refuge with The Bowery King (Laurence Fishburne) but later re-emerges and ends up in France. Bill Skarsgård appears to be playing the bad guy and the trailer includes plenty of amazing shots, such as a fight in a nightclub with the sprinklers on and Donnie Yen looking bad-ass during a sword fight, but the money shot of the trailer finds Wick wielding nunchucks and absolutely demolishing bad guys with them.

Keanu Reeves once again plays the legendary assassin in John Wick 4 and will be joined by Donnie Yen, Shamier Anderson, Bill Skarsgård, Hiroyuki Sanada, Scott Adkins, Clancy Brown, and Rina Sawayama. The film will also see the return of a few franchise veterans including Laurence Fishburne as The Bowery King, Ian McShane as Winston, manager of the Continental Hotel, and Lance Reddick as Charon, the concierge of the Continental. John Wick: Chapter 4 will debut in theaters on March 24, 2023, so are you ready for the conclusion in about a year?
