According to Deadline, Harold & Kumar star John Cho and Fantastic Beasts actress Katherine Waterston have signed on for the leading roles in the upcoming horror movie They Listen, which hails from Sony Pictures and Blumhouse. This marks Cho’s latest project with Sony after working with them on the acclaimed mystery thriller Searching, which was about a father searching for his missing teenage daughter.

Further details about the plot and characters are still being kept under wraps. Production is currently underway in Los Angeles. The film is scheduled to arrive in theaters on August 25, 2023.

They Listen is being written and directed by Chris Weitz, who co-wrote the Academy Award-nominated film About a Boy. The film is produced by Weitz, Jason Blum, and Andrew Miano, with Bea Sequeira, Dan Balgoyen, Britta Rowings, and Paul Davis serving as executive producers. It is a production by Sony Pictures, Blumhouse, and Depth of Field.

Cho is best known for his iconic roles in the comedy franchise Harold & Kumar and in the action sci-fi franchise Star Trek. He recently starred in Prime Video’s adventure dramedy film Don’t Make Me Go. Meanwhile, Waterston will next be seen in Damien Chazelle’s star-studded period drama Babylon and in the apocalyptic thriller The End We Start From starring Jodie Comer.
