John Cena, Officer Exchange, action comedy, Amazon

Deadline has reported that John Cena will star in Officer Exchange, a big action-comedy that was just sold to Amazon Studios.

The project is currently in development with ben Zazove and Evan Turner penning the script. John Cena will play Shepard, also known as Shep, who is described as a “wrecking ball of a cop.Officer Exchange will find Shep teaming up with an Indian police officer in order to take down a diamond smuggling ring in India. In addition to starring in the action-comedy, John Cena will also be executive producing the project alongside Peter Safran and John Rickard.

John Cena has plenty of projects in the works, including a second season of Peacemaker for HBO Max. The first season was a major success for the streaming service and Cena said that he was “incredibly honored and humbled” by the response to the series. James Gunn will return to write and direct Peacemaker season 2. “Creating Peacemaker has been one of the true highlights of my life, both professionally and otherwise, with John Cena and the incredible creative team around me, as well as our partners at HBO Max,” James Gunn said in a statement. “To have something we all love so much be loved by the audience in turn has been a wonderful experience. I can’t wait for folks to see where Team Peacemaker goes in Season Two!

Cena is also set to star alongside Will Forte and Lana Condor in Coyote vs. Acme, a live-action/animated hybrid that will follow “the infamous Looney Tunes prairie woof whose objective is obliterating his nemesis Road Runner. Acme is the fictional company that provides Coyote with his many weapons, all of which invariably fail, leaving him squashed flat or burnt to a crisp.” The movie will tell the story of a down-on-his-luck attorney (Forte) who takes on Wile E. as a client in his suit against Acme over its defective products, only to discover that his boss (Cena) at his former law firm is representing Acme, but the growing friendship between Wile E. and his lawyer only fuels their desire to win the case.
