Fast X Jason Momoa

Jason Momoa is known for playing some brutal characters. However, in interviews, he comes off as a very personable, fun, good-spirited individual that gives the impression that anyone could hang out with him. There’s even a scene in the first Aquaman that jokes about it. Momoa even once described his DC character as “a superhero you can have a beer with.”

Recently, Momoa spoke to Entertainment Tonight about the third season of his AppleTV+ show, See. THR reports that in the interview, Momoa expressed his excitement over the new character he would be playing in the latest installment in the billion-dollar car franchise, Fast X. Momoa will be joining Charlize Theron as the villain of the movie.

Momoa explains,

I’ve never played a character that’s, what’s the word — he’s evil and quirky and androgynous. He’s very sadistic and fun. It’s very bizarre. I haven’t played a villain in a very long time.”

Momoa talks about how much he enjoyed his time filming the movie. He even felt welcomed being the freshman in the tenth and final chapter of the action spectacle and expressed his excitement on being able to work with Academy Award winning actress, Charlize Theron on this movie. He hasn’t made any comment on the drama that once surrounded the production where the original director, franchise veteran Justin Lin, stepped down due to creative differences, which left the film’s studio, Universal, in a bind for a few weeks trying to find a replacement for such a high budget production.

Momoa joins fellow newcomers to the series: Brie Larson, in an unspecified role, Daniela Melchior of The Suicide Squad and upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, also in an unspecified role, Alan Ritchson of Reacher and Rita Moreno.

Universal eventually chose French director Louis Leterrier, who helmed The Transporter 1 & 2 and The Incredible Hulk, to take over directing duties from Lin.

Vin Diesel’s Family Saga, Fast X, is scheduled for release on May 19, 2023.
