Amazon Studios has released the official Goodnight Mommy trailer for its upcoming English remake of the acclaimed Austrian horror thriller of the same name. The film will be available for streaming September 16, exclusively on Prime Video.

The video, which you can check out below along with the poster, features young twin actors Cameron and Nicholas Crovetti as they portray two suspecting brothers who are convinced that the woman their currently living with isn’t their real mother. It highlights the woman’s seemingly strange behavior as the boys notice the differences between their real mother and the supposed imposter.

The Goodnight Mommy remake is directed by Matt Sobel (Take Me to the River) from a screenplay written by Kyle Warren based on their vision for the film. The project has been in development since 2018, with Amazon Studios set to finance and release the film worldwide. The film stars Naomi Watts, Cameron Crovetti, Nicholas Crovetti, and Peter Hermann.

“When twin brothers arrive at their mother’s country home to discover her face covered in bandages—the result, she explains, of recent cosmetic surgery—they immediately sense that something doesn’t add up,” reads the synopsis. “She sets strange new house rules, smokes in her bathroom, and secretly rips up a drawing they gave her—things their loving mother would never do. As her behavior grows increasingly bizarre and erratic, a horrifying thought takes root in the boys’ minds: The sinking suspicion that the woman beneath the gauze, who’s making their food and sleeping in the next room, isn’t their mother at all.”
