The Elemental Disney+ release date for Pixar’s latest animated feature has been revealed.

When is the Elemental Disney+ release date?

After over two months since its theatrical release, the fantasy romantic comedy will finally be available for streaming on Wednesday, September 13. In addition, Disney+ has also announced upcoming releases of a making-of documentary, Good Chemistry: The Story of Elemental, and Pixar’s latest Up spin-off short, Carl’s Date, which will both launch on September 13 as well.

Prior to its Disney+ debut, Elemental had its world premiere at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival. Despite having poor box office results during its early theatrical run, the film slowly gained traction at the worldwide box office and has become a sleeper hit for Pixar with a total gross of over $480 million.

Elemental centers the unlikely pair of “Ember and Wade, in a city where fire-, water-, land- and air-residents live together,” reads the synopsis. “The fiery young woman and the go-with-the-flow guy are about to discover something elemental: how much they actually have in common.”

The voice cast includes Leah Lewis (The Half of Us) as the fiery Ember; Mamoudou Athie (Jurassic World: Dominion) as the Water-guy Wade; Wendi McLendon-Covey (The Goldbergs) as Wade’s stormy Air-Ball-loving boss, Gale; Catherine O’Hara (Home Alone) as Wade’s funny-but-tearful mom, Brook; Ronnie del Carmen (Inside Out) as Ember’s father, Bernie Lumen; and more.

Elemental is directed by Peter Sohn (Partly Cloudy short), whose childhood in New York serves as an inspiration for the film’s story. The screenplay is written by John Hoberg & Kat Likkel, and Brenda Hsueh, with a story by Sohn, Hoberg & Likkel, and Hsueh. The film’s original score was composed and conducted by Thomas Newman. It is produced by Denise Ream (Cars 2), who worked with Sohn in The Good Dinosaur.
