A deleted Barbie post-credits scene would have included a surprise cameo.

This new movie directed by Greta Gerwig stars Margot Robbie as Barbie and Ryan Gosling as Ken. This fantasy comedy film has been performing very well at the box. office with positive reviews from critics and audiences alike. Although fans don’t have to wait till the end of the credits to see that there is no after-credits scene, the film nearly included one.

The Art of the Cut conversation with Barbie editor Nick Houy featured a corkboard of every scene in Barbie. If you look closely at the bottom right, you can see a scene labeled “Midge in Labor”, which would have featured Midge (Emerald Fennell), well, going into labor. If you look more closely, you can see Helen Mirren in the scene, which would have been her first physical appearance in the film.

Mirren has a voice role in Barbie as the film’s narrator. Her voice appears a few times in the film, but this deleted post-credits scene would have been a pleasant surprise.

Who is in the Barbie movie cast?

The film stars Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling, America Ferrera, Simu Liu, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Scott Evans, Kate McKinnon, Ariana Greenblatt, Alexandra Shipp, Emma Mackey, Issa Rae, Michael Cera, Hari Nef, Will Ferrell, Helen Mirren, Dua Lipa, Emerald Fennell, and more.

Barbie is now playing in theaters.
