Dan Stevens, Godzilla vs Kong, sequel

Dan Stevens and Adam Wingard are set to reunite as Deadline has reported that Stevens is set to star in the Godzilla vs Kong sequel.

Adam Wingard helmed Godzilla vs Kong, which turned out to be one of the best-performing movies of the pandemic, and Legendary quickly started talking with Wingard about returning for the next MonsterVerse movie. The Godzilla vs Kong sequel is slated to kick off production in Australia this summer, so we should start hearing about who will be joining Dan Stevens in the movie before too long.

Plot details about the Godzilla vs Kong sequel are naturally being kept under wraps, but Adam Wingard has previously expressed an interest in exploring Hollow Earth. “The clear starting point we teed up (in GVK), exploring Hollow Earth, I think there is a lot more to do there,” Wingard said. “This is a pre-history of Planet Earth, where all the titans come from. We tee up some mystery in this film, things I want to see resolved and explored and pushed to the next level.

Adam Wingard and Dan Stevens previously worked together on The Guest, a thriller which found Stevens playing a soldier who shows up at the home of the Peterson family claiming to be a friend of their son who died in action, but a series of accidental deaths seem to be connected to his presence. Fans have long campaigned for a sequel to The Guest and it could actually happen. Adam Wingard and screenwriter Simon Barrett released an official soundtrack for The Guest II last month and the reaction got their creative juices flowing “(The soundtrack) really pushed me and Simon into a creative headspace,” Wingard said. “We’re talking about developing a potential sequel as a real project… Maybe the more interesting thing isn’t doing a sequel to The Guest. Maybe it’s doing a limited series, something we could really sink our teeth into.
