Curb Your Enthusiasm executive producer Jeff Schaffer says that season 12 may not be the end of the comedy series after all.

Curb Your Enthusiasm

Curb Your Enthusiasm has been part of the HBO family for over two decades, but rumblings emerged last week that the upcoming twelfth season might be the end. However, Curb Your Enthusiasm executive producer Jeff Schaffer told Deadline that you shouldn’t consider season 12 to be the last of the long-running series.

Reports of our demise have been greatly exaggerated,” Jeff Schaffer said. “We literally just finished shooting last week. So, yeah, we’re done.” Schaffer noted that Larry David typically ends each season of the series with the expectation that it could be the last one.

My first season was Season 5. And you know what the final episode of that season was called? ‘The End.’ Not ironically. That was 15 years ago. So every season is the last season. It’s been this way forever,” Schaffer continued. “Larry’s put all the ideas he likes into the season. He’s the only one who thinks he’s never gonna have another good idea. So, of course, he’s done for a while. But you know, usually he goes out and has spirited encounters with the westside of Los Angeles and then ideas come. So we’re in the same spot we’re always in. It’s just business as usual.” HBO hasn’t commented on whether or not Curb Your Enthusiasm would actually end with season 12, but Schaffer said that the door hasn’t been closed, in fact, “There’s not even a door.

When it was confirmed last year that Curb Your Enthusiasm would be returning for a twelfth season, Larry David said: “Playing the role of Larry David has been the greatest honor of my life. In researching this multi-faceted, multi-talented man, I discovered that there’s more to him than I ever could have imagined: He speaks six languages, brines his own pickles, and spearheads a national movement to install a bidet in every home. I’ve also been told from numerous sources that he is the most generous of lovers. I am so excited to once again transform into this force of nature. I only pray that I can do him justice. Curb Your Enthusiasm season 12 doesn’t have an official reason date yet.
