Criminal Minds, revival, Paramount+

The Behavioral Analysis Unit is back in action. TV Line has reported that Paramount+ has officially placed a 10-episode order for the Criminal Minds revival series.

The Criminal Minds revival will see the return of Joe Mantegna as David Rossi, Adam Rodriguez as Luke Alvez, A.J. Cook as Jennifer “JJ” Jareau, Aisha Tyler as Tara Lewis, Paget Brewster as Emily Prentiss, and Kirsten Vangsness as Penelope Garcia. Unfortunately, Matthew Gray Gubler (Spencer Reid) and Daniel Henney (Matt Simmons) won’t be back. I’d imagine that some fans might be a little upset that Gubler isn’t returning.

Joe Mantegna took to social media yesterday to tease that the Criminal Minds revival was moving forward. He posted a picture of himself on a soundstage that looks to be the beginnings of the BAU offices.

The long-running crime procedural series followed a team of FBI profilers who worked for the Behavioral Analysis Unit and took down a variety of serial killers and criminals every week. The series went on to spawn two spinoffs, Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior and Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders, before it came to an end in 2020 after fifteen seasons and 324 episodes.

Unlike the original Criminal Minds series, which largely resolved its cases by the end of the episode, the Paramount+ revival will be serialized. The 10-episode series will find the BAU team tackling a single case over the course of the season. Are you looking forward to the Criminal Minds revival or has not enough time passed since the series concluded?
