Back in February of 2020, we heard that the Blumhouse horror thriller Run Sweetheart Run would be release in May of that year… but then the pandemic hit, and that release obviously didn’t happen. Now, after two years of sitting on a shelf, Run Sweetheart Run is finally going to making its way out into the world. Amazon has revealed that the movie will be released through their Prime Video service on October 28th.

The film stars Ella Balinska (Netflix’s Resident Evil series), Pilou Asbaek (Ghost in the Shell), Aml Ameen (I May Destroy You), Dayo Okeniyi (Fresh), Betsy Brandt (Breaking Bad), Shohreh Aghdashloo (The Expanse), and Clark Gregg (The Avengers).

Inspired by a bad date writer/director Shana Feste went on, this “feminist horror/thriller” shows what happens when

a blind date turns violent and the woman has to get home on foot through Los Angeles as she’s pursued by her date.

Keith Josef Adkins and Kellee Terrell also have writing credits on the movie. Here’s another synopsis:

After what begins as dinner with a client, a single mom (Ella Balinska) finds herself hunted by a monstrous and seemingly unstoppable assailant (Pilou Asbæk) in this terrifying dark thriller.

Feste produced Run Sweetheart Run for Quiet Girl Productions, alongside Effie T. Brown, Blumhouse’s Jason Blum and Automatik’s Brian Kavanaugh-Jones. Jennifer Besser, Couper Samuelson, Bea Sequeira, and Jeanette Volturno serve as executive producers.

With the film’s long-awaited release just a couple months away (again), here’s hoping that we’re going to get to see a trailer for this one soon. I have been looking forward to Run Sweetheart Run for two and a half years at this point, so I will definitely be checking it out as soon as it’s available on Amazon.
