Here’s a network show I actually watch. It has been announced that Big Sky has been renewed for a third season at ABC. With the renewal, also comes news that Jensen Ackles is joining as a series regular, per Deadline.

Ackles guest-starred in season two as Beau Arlen, a confident and charming good ol’ boy from Texas who steps in as temporary Sheriff (and Jenny Hoyt’s new boss) as a favor to his friend Sheriff Tubb. Ackles signed a one-year deal as he’s pretty busy as of late. He’s already shot The Boys season 3 and he’s a producer on the recently picked up Supernatural spinoff on The CW.

Jamie-Lynn Sigler has also been upped to series regular for season three. She had a recurring role in season two as Tonya, a waitress at a local diner whose boyfriend mysteriously disappears. Kylie Bunbury and Katheryn Winnick lead the series which also stars Brian Geraghty, Dedee Pfeiffer, Omar Metwally, and Anja Savic. Big Sky isn’t topping primetime charts, but the drama has been steady in the demo and audiences. ABC touted its digital gains to average around 9M viewers per episode this season.

Big Sky comes from David E. Kelley and it follows a private detective that teams up with an ex-cop to solve a kidnapping case in Montana. Season two expands on this with a new crime.

Are YOU happy that Big Sky is returning?
