Update: Another DC series has bit the dust as The CW has also canceled DC’s Legends of Tomorrow in addition to Batwoman. Co-showrunner Keto Shimizu confirmed the news on Twitter. “Well, folks. It’s been an incredible run. However, the CW has let us know that there will be no season 8 of Legends of Tomorrow,” Shimizu wrote. “We are heartbroken, but also immensely grateful for the amazing work our cast, crew, and writers have contributed to the little show that could.” Shimizu went on to thank the fans for their love and passion over the last seven seasons of the show. As the seventh season finale has already aired, fans may not get to say a proper goodbye, but it’s possible that some characters could turn up in other Arrowverse shows.

Ryan Wilder (Javicia Leslie) won’t be around to project Gotham City anymore as The CW has canceled Batwoman after three seasons. Showrunner Caroline Dries revealed the news on Twitter, saying that she “just got the sad news that Batwoman will not be seeing a [season four].“
“I am bummed, but full of gratitude,” Dries wrote of Batwoman’s cancelation. “What an honor to make 51 episodes. So many inspiring, brilliant, people contributed to this series. Thank you producers, cast and crew. Thank you, fans! We love you.“
Batwoman didn’t have an easy go of it from the beginning. Ruby Rose originally starred in the series as Kate Kane, but stepped down from the role after the first season. The reasoning behind the exit later turned ugly when both Rose and Warner Bros. Television had harsh words for one another. Rose made allegations of an abusive and dangerous working environment, calling out showrunner Caroline Dries, Warner Bros. executive Peter Roth, co-star Dougray Scott, and others. Javicia Leslie was later tapped to replace Rose as Ryan Wilder, a new character who took on the mantle of Batwoman after the disappearance of Kate Kane.
The third season of Batwoman concluded just last month with what is now its series finale. I don’t watch the series, but from what I’ve heard, it did end somewhat satisfactorily. The last scene did leave one tease for the fourth season when a mysterious skeletal figure attacked reporter Dana DeWitt (Allison Riley). Caroline Dries told Entertainment Weekly that the figure was something they pulled from canon that they had put their own spin on. I suppose we won’t know what she had in mind.
