According to Deadline, Golden Globe winner Anya Taylor-Joy has signed on for a leading role opposite Miles Teller in Skydance’s forthcoming genre-bending action film The Gorge. Further details about her character are still being kept under wraps. In addition, Apple Original Films has officially boarded the project and will be serving as its distributor.

The Gorge is described as a “high-action, genre-bending love story.” The film will be directed and produced by Scott Derrickson, who also recently enjoyed box-office success with the horror film The Black Phone. The screenplay is written and produced by Zach Dean (The Tomorrow War), with Teller also set to executive produce.

Producers are David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Don Granger for Skydance, along with C. Robert Cargill and Sherryl Clark for Crooked Highway. Adam Kolbrenner and Greg Goodman are also set as producers.

Taylor-Joy first gained recognition for her acclaimed role in Robert Eggers’ 2015 film The Witch. Her other notable credits include films like Split, Emma, and Last Night in Soho, as well as TV shows such as The Queen’s Gambit and Peaky Blinders. She will next be seen in George Miller’s Mad Max: Fury Road prequel Furiosa and is also set to lend her voice to Princess Peach in The Super Mario Bros. Movie.
