According to Deadline, Oscar winners Angelina Jolie and Halle Berry have signed on for the leading roles in the forthcoming action thriller titled Maude v Maude. Warner Bros. successfully won the rights to the project following a very competitive bidding war against multiple studios.

Jolie and Berry are no strangers to the action genre, as some of their most memorable performances feature them portraying dynamic characters. The Eternals actress’ notable action movies include Lara Croft: Tom Raider, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Wanted, and Salt. Meanwhile, Berry is also best known for playing the live-action version of Storm in 20th Century Fox’s X-Men films. Her most recent action projects are Kingsman: The Golden Circle and John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum.

Maude v Maude will be directed by Roseanne Liang from a screenplay written by Scott Mosier. This marks Liang’s feature directorial comeback, three years after working on the independent sci-fi action movie Shadow in the Cloud. Besides Maude v Maude, the New Zealand filmmaker has also joined the directing lineup for Netflix’s live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender series.

The outlet’s source notes that the project is being describe as a “Bond vs. Bourne”-like global action thriller. The film is produced by Holly Jeter and Jeff Kirschenbaum, with Mosier and Liang executive producing. In addition to starring, Jolie and Berry are also serving producers.
