On the JoBlo Movies YouTube channel, we will be posting one full movie every day of the week, giving viewers the chance to watch them entirely free of charge. The Free Movie of the Day we have for you today is quite a weird one. It’s a found footage horror movie, but the threat in this one isn’t supernatural, as is often the case with found footage flicks. The threat here is the person doing the filming, a character played by writer/director/cinematographer/editor Adrian Țofei. The movie is Tofei’s feature debut Be My Cat: A Film for Anne.

I call Be My Cat a weird one not because its lack of ghosts and demons, but because it’s about a filmmaker who puts his actresses through a hellish experience because he became obsessed with Anne Hathaway after watching her play Catwoman in The Dark Knight Rises. Here’s the synopsis:

An aspiring Romanian filmmaker obsessed with Hollywood actress Anne Hathaway goes to shocking extremes to convince Anne to star in his upcoming film.

Tofei is joined in the cast by Sonia Teodoriu, Florentina Hariton, and Alexandra Stroe.

As you would expect when someone makes a movie about a crazy person who’s obsessed with an A-list star, Be My Cat got a lot of attention while it was making the festival rounds… but a lot of the attention it got was very positive. WatchMojo called it one of the best low budget horror films ever made. Film Threat named it among the top 7 recent European horror films. Blumhouse said Be My Cat ranks as one of the top 5 new intelligent found footage films.

So take a look at Be My Cat: A Film for Anne – it’s free! – and let us know what you thought of it by leaving a comment below or on the YouTube page.
