Yellowstone, season 5, release, Kevin Costner

Production on the fifth season of Yellowstone is now underway in Montana and Paramount Network has announced when the Duttons will be back on our screens. Season 5 of Yellowstone will launch on November 13th, which also happens to be the release date of Tulsa King, Taylor Sheridan’s mob drama starring Sylvester Stallone. Sounds like a great double feature.

Yellowstone follows “the Dutton family, led by John Dutton (Kevin Costner), who controls the largest contiguous ranch in the United States. The ranch is under constant attack by those it borders—land developers, an Indian reservation, and United States of America’s first National Park.” Kevin Costner has returned for the fifth season of Yellowstone, along with Luke Grimes, Kelly Reilly, Wes Bentley, Cole Hauser, Kelsey Asbille, Brecken Merrill, Jefferson White, Forrie Smith, Denim Richards, Ian Bohen, Finn Little, Ryan Bingham, and Gil Birmingham. Jen Landon and Kathryn Kelly will also be returning and have been dumped up to series regulars. The new season will be the biggest yet as it will be split into two installments of seven episodes each.

Along with the release date announcement for Yellowstone season 5, there’s been a lot of news about the franchise over the past week. It was revealed yesterday that Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren would be starring in 1932, a prequel series that will introduce “a new generation of the Dutton family and will explore the early 20th century when pandemics, historic drought, the end of Prohibition and the Great Depression all plague the mountain west, and the Duttons who call it home.1932 will be following in the footsteps of 1883, and although we won’t be seeing the second season of that series, it will continue with a spinoff. David Oyelowo will star in 1883: The Bass Reeves Story, which will tell the story of one of the greatest frontier heroes in American history who is also believed to be the inspiration for The Lone Ranger. Reeves worked in the post-Reconstruction era as a federal peace officer in the Indian Territory, capturing over 3,000 of the most dangerous criminals without ever being wounded. The project had previously been announced as its own limited series, but it will now fall under the Yellowstone banner.
