WTF You Need to Know About the Scream franchise

[ad_1]

The new episode of the WTF You Need to Know video series digs into the Scream slasher franchise. Check it out!

Scream VI (read our review HERE) is currently in theatres and raking in the cash, having earned over $115 million at the global box office in less than two weeks of release, so this seemed like the perfect time to put together an episode of the WTF You Need to Know video series that gathers all of the important information about the Scream franchise. Check it out in the embed above!

The Scream franchise started off with a 1996 slasher directed by Wes Craven from a screenplay by Kevin Williamson. Scream 2 followed one year later and Scream 3 came along just over two years after that. Then the franchise went on hiatus for eleven years, until Scream 4 was released… and, surprisingly, had an underwhelming run at the box office. So in 2015, the same year Craven (who had directed all four of the films) passed away at the age of 76, Scream went TV for a few years. In 2022, Scream made a successful return to the big screen with a film directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett from a screenplay by James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick. And one year later, the same creative team has brought us Scream VI.
