Speaking with BBC, Langley confirmed that the project is still currently in development. Their vision is that Cruise would be the first civilian to spacewalk outside of the space station. She also revealed a little bit more about the plot, confirming that the untitled Tom Cruise-led space movie would be taking place mostly on Earth.

“Tom Cruise is taking us to space,” Langley said. “He’s taking the world to space. That’s the plan. We have a great project in development with Tom, that does contemplate him doing just that. Taking a rocket up to the space station and shooting and hopefully being the first civilian to do a spacewalk outside of the space station.”
