Nope Jordan Peele

Up to this point, Universal has been very good about keeping the secrets of Nope, the upcoming “horror epic” from Get Out and Us writer/director Jordan Peele… but they have made a major reveal in a new TV spot. This is such a big deal, we have to warn you right now: if you want to remain SPOILER free beyond what has been seen in previous marketing materials, don’t scroll to the bottom of this article.

Nope is scheduled to reach theatres on July 22nd. The film centers on

residents in a lonely gulch of inland California who bear witness to an uncanny and chilling discovery.

Those residents are played by Daniel Kaluuya, Keke Palmer (Alice), and Steven Yeun (The Walking Dead). Also in the cast are Michael Wincott (The Crow), Brandon Perea (The OA), and Barbie Ferreira (Euphoria).

At the CinemaCon event back in April, our own Chris Bumbray had the chance to see a trailer for Nope that has yet to be released. He couldn’t say all that he saw in that trailer, but

suffice to say, the “bad thing” comes from the clouds and builds up slowly. The thing that it might be is potentially revealed. The cast is emphasized and it looks like Michael Wincott has a major role.

Now, in the TV spot embedded below, we get to see exactly what the “bad thing” that comes from the clouds is. It appears that those of you who have been speculating that there’s an alien threat in Nope are absolutely right… But we still can’t confirm whether or not the title actually stands for Not Of Planet Earth. What we do know for sure is that characters definitely say variations of “No” quite a lot in the movie.
