Keanu Reeves is no stranger to starring in action films, but the iconic actor could potentially step behind the camera to bring his own comic to the big screen.

Speaking to Collider, Reeves and writer Matt Kindt — who co-wrote the Boom! Studios comic book series BRZRKR — were asked about the film’s live-action film adaptation, which Netflix announced it was developing last year. According to Reeves, while he hadn’t yet read screenwriter Mattson Tomlin’s script for the film, he wouldn’t be opposed to potentially directing the project if he really enjoys the script. In fact, there’s approximately a “33%” chance.

“I know how it’s a lot of work, but the film that I directed, Man of Tai Chi, was born, I became the director because I was part of the writing process, and I didn’t want to hand it over,” said Reeves. “I was like, oh, okay. I have to direct this. I’m not quite there yet on BRZRKR. I have to read the script, but I’m also interested in having a collaborator and what they could bring to it.”

BRZRKR tells the story of an immortal warrior, known as Berzerker, who fights his way through different time periods. Running as a 12-issue limited series beginning in March 2021, the book was originally funded via Kickstarter, earning more than $1.4 million on the crowdfunding site.

Since its release, various adaptations of the project have been announced, including the Netflix film and a two-season anime adaptation that Production I.G will produce. No official release dates for either project have been announced as of now.
