The Walking Dead spinoff Dead City gets first look

[ad_1]

Welcome to a brand new beginning! At the Walking Dead panel at this weekend’s New York Comic Con, attendees were treated to an early look at the upcoming Walking Dead spinoff (yes, another), Dead City.

Dead City will focus on the characters of Maggie and Neehan, played by Lauren Cohan and Jeffrey Dean Morgan, respectively. The series will find the two “traveling into a post-apocalyptic Manhattan long ago cut off from the mainland. The crumbling city is filled with the dead and denizens who have made New York City their own world full of anarchy, danger, beauty, and terror.”

Dead City was originally called Isle of the Dead, playing off of George A. Romero’s iconic of the Dead series.

The Walking Dead: Dead City of course won’t be the first Walking Dead spinoff, following Fear the Walking Dead, which debuted in 2015, and The Walking Dead: World Beyond, which only ran two seasons, and this year’s Tales of the Walking Dead, which premiered in August.

There, too, is a Daryl-centric spinoff set in Europe in the works, with Norman Reedus saying it will be “fucking epic.” No pressure or anything.

There has been some fan backlash about all of the spinoffs, especially since every one was announced before the flagship series even concluded, thus spoiling some character fates. The Walking Dead will conclude its 11-season, 170-episode run on November 30th.

Also in attendance for the Walking Dead panel was Reedus, Paola Lázaro (Juanita Sanchez), Eleanor Matsuura (Yumiko), Lauren Ridloff (Connie), and Michael James Shaw (Michael Mercer). There, too, was footage teased for the upcoming episodes of The Walking Dead.

Dead City will premiere in April 2023. Are you looking forward to the upcoming Dead City spinoff series? Or are we getting too much Walking Dead? Let us know your thoughts on the franchise below.
