Speaking to ComicBook.com as part of their Phase Zero podcast, the Russo Brothers were asked what other Marvel characters they’d like to see Evans — who has already portrayed Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Johnny Storm/The Human Torch in Fox’s Fantastic Four films — play. According to the pair, the answer was immediately clear: it would be Wolverine.

“Evans has incredible range and great physicality, and he’s real good at body control,” Joe Russo said. “He’s an incredible actor. I don’t mean this in a bad way, but he’s nothing like Captain America. Steve Rogers is very controlled and quiet, understated. Chris is energetic and funny and charismatic, and he brings a lot of energy to set. I’d love to see him do something like Wolverine.”

Evans’ past and future in the world of comic book films has been up for discussion over the past couple of weeks. Recently, the actor said that he believed returning to his role as Captain America would be a “tall order,” while also saying that he would love to try being Johnny Storm again in a future film. With the inclusion of the multiverse in various MCU stories now, it’s possible that Evans isn’t done appearing in the MCU, especially as other potential heroes.
