Mike Myers has been rather scarce in recent years but the actor is back in a big way with The Pentaverate, a six-episode series set to debut on Netflix next week. The streaming service has released a new trailer for The Pentaverate which lets us know how much Mike Myers we’re in for — a lot.

What if a secret society of five men has been working to influence world events for the greater good since the Black Plague of 1347? That’s the Pentaverate, and the series will follow one unlikely Canadian journalist who finds himself embroiled in a mission to uncover the truth and just possibly save the world himself.

Mike Myers plays Ken Scarborough, the journalist at the center of the series, but he also plays seven other characters, including Anthony Lansdowne, a New England conspiracy theorist, determined to expose the Pentaverate; Rex Smith, a far-right radio host and highly prominent conspiracy theorist; Lord Lordington, the Pentaverate’s oldest and highest-ranking member; Bruce Baldwin, former media mogul; Mishu Ivanov, ex-Russian oligarch; Shep Gordon, former rock n’ roll manager; and Jason Eccleston, a tech genius who invented the Pentaverate’s supercomputer, MENTOR. Many of those characters can be seen in the new trailer for The Pentaverate.

Mike Myers won’t be playing every character in The Pentaverate, as the upcoming series also stars Ken Jeong as Skip Cho, a casino mogul with extensive knowledge in the chaos theory of weather patterns; Keegan-Michael Key as Dr. Hobart Clark, a nuclear physicist, recruited into the Pentaverate to resolve the climate change disaster; Debi Mazar as Patty Davis, the highly trusted Executive Assistant to the Pentaverate; Richard McCabe as Exalted Pikeman Higgins, head of the Liechtenstein Guard, the Pentaverate’s security force; Lydia West as Reilly Clayton, a young woman working at the Canadian News Station with Ken and joins him to expose the Pentaverate; and Jennifer Saunders in the dual role of The Maester of Dubrovnik and the Saester of Dubrovnik. Jeremy Irons also serves as the narrator of the series.

The Pentaverate will debut on Netflix on May 5, 2022.
