Raise your pinky into the air and prepare to shake your hips because a new Elvis trailer is here to set your nether regions on fire. Today brings a fresh look at Baz Luhrmann‘s Elvis biopic starring Austin Butler as the King of Rock and Roll. In the new Elvis trailer, we witness the King’s power over an impressionable crowd and the fear behind those looking to supersede his influence. While fans were obsessed with Presley’s talent, gyrating hips, and gorgeous mug, authority figures were terrified that one man could hold a nation in his hand from a brightly-lit stage.

Luhrmann is known for making hyper-visual films like Moulin Rouge!Romeo + Juliet, and The Great Gatsby. I do not doubt that he’ll be applying his flair for the dramatic to Elvis, and there are plenty of stars attached to the film to help tell the icon’s legendary story. Joining Butler for Elvis are Tom Hanks, Olivia DeJonge, Dacre Montgomery, Kodi Smit-McPhee, David Wenham, Luke Bracey, Natasha Bassett, Xavier Samuel, Richard Roxburgh, Chaydon Jay, Kelvin Harrison Jr., Kate Mulvany, Elizabeth Cullen, and more.

Elvis Presley’s influence is the stuff of legend. Men and women love him, while younger generations tend to be mystified by his lasting appeal. Perhaps Luhrmann’s film will help open their eyes to the King of Rock and Roll’s charisma, awakening their urge to bump some Presley on Spotify. Hey, if movies like Bohemian Rhapsody and Rocketman can trigger revivals for Queen and Elton John, why can’t it do the same for Mr. Presley?

After experiencing a bit of blowback for their day-and-date release plan, Elvis will only share its hunk of burning love in theaters. The film will dance its way over to HBO Max 45 days after its theatrical release.

Elvis arrives only in theaters on June 24, 2022.
