The season 4 finale of The Last Drive-In with Joe Bob Briggs is going to premiere on the Shudder streaming service tomorrow night, and in the build-up to the finale Darcy the Mail Girl has been referring to this as the “season (?) finale”, as if the future of legendary drive-in movie critic Joe Bob Briggs on Shudder might be in question. But thankfully, there is no question. Shudder has made the official announcement: they have renewed The Last Drive-In with Joe Bob Briggs for another season!

Joe Bob provided the following statement (via ComicBook.com):

Thanks to the Shudder team for giving us the chance to hang out another year with the greatest fans in media. I’m constantly amazed by their affection and I’m constantly learning from them.”

Shudder’s Craig Engler added,

We’re delighted to bring Joe Bob, Darcy, and the rest of The Last Drive-In Team back for another season of crazy movies, live-tweeting, and the most entertaining commentary on TV. We’ll also have more special guests and themed holiday episodes, because as Joe Bob says, the drive-in never dies.”

Here’s the information on the current season of The Last Drive-in with Joe Bob Briggs:

The hit series returns with Briggs, the world’s foremost drive-in movie critic, presenting eclectic horror movie double features, interrupting the films to expound upon their merits, histories, and significance to genre cinema. The season premiere will feature a celebration of The Last Drive-In’s 100th movie since Joe Bob’s first Shudder marathon in 2018, with surprise special guests. Shudder and Briggs first teamed up in July 2018, for the 24-hour marathon intended to be Briggs’ final farewell to televised movie hosting. Due to overwhelming popular demand, Shudder brought The Last Drive-In back as a weekly series and for multiple holiday specials.

The show is produced by Matt Manjourides and Justin Martell, and directed by Austin Jennings.

The Last Drive-In with Joe Bob Briggs season 5 will probably reach Shudder sometime next spring. If the break between these seasons is the same as the breaks between previous seasons, we should have some Joe Bob specials to look forward to between now and then.
