The Kids in the Hall are an iconic Canadian sketch comedy troupe consisting of Dave Foley, Bruce McCulloch, Kevin McDonald, Mark McKinney, and Scott Thompson. They are best known for their sketch comedy show of the same name, which aired for five seasons between 1988 and 1995. Well over twenty years later, the Kids in the Hall have finally returned for a new season, and Prime Video has released a red-band trailer that you’re going to want to check out.

This new season of Kids in the Hall will be a continuation of the original series and find all members returning for more Canadian-fueled hilarity. The revival was announced more than two years ago and was billed as the first Canadian Amazon Original series. When Amazon first announced the project, Vice-president of International Originals James Farrell said:

We’ve been investing in Canada for several years and are excited to add to that momentum by making ‘The Kids in the Hall’ the first Canadian Amazon Original series. ‘The Kids in the Hall’ is an iconic show with a deep-rooted fan base. Several of our global hits, including ‘The Boys,’ ‘Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan’ and ‘The Expanse’ have been filmed in Canada and we are looking forward to continuing our work with talented producers and crew teams across the country to bring this series to our Prime members around the world.

Saturday Night Live creator Lorne Michaels has returned to executive produce the Kids in the Hall revival. “Even after 30 years, ‘The Kids in the Hall’ has retained its brilliance and originality,” Michaels said. “We are happy to be bringing back all of the original ‘Kids’ for the new series.” With new characters and beloved favourites, the Kids in the Hall trailer also isn’t shy about taking a few shots at Amazon, their new corporate overlord. The eight-episode series will debut on Prime Video on May 13, 2022.
